ISLA Impacta

ISLA Impacta is a youth-centered leadership and entrepreneurship program that invites Latino jóvenes to dream big, take risks, and create real change in their communities. Designed for bilingual youth ages 12–24, the program blends civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, emotional well-being, and advocacy so students can turn their ideas into action. Through hands-on projects, seed funding for student-led businesses, and mentorship from Latinx leaders, participants build confidence, creativity, and practical skills in financial literacy, teamwork, and public speaking. Rooted in cultural pride and social justice, ISLA Impacta helps youth see their Spanish, their stories, and their communities as powerful tools to lead, innovate, and build a more just and joyful future.

I continue to have a connection with ISLA because growing up I didn’t have a Latino community in my school, I didn’t see kids speaking a second language like me. When ISLA was introduced to my family it was such a beautiful thing to see that their were other kids like that out there. That made me throughout the years want to be a leader to my community and proud of being a Latina.

Some of my favorite memories at ISLA were attending the classes because I got to meet new people, I really liked my teacher, and being able to learn more about, not just the culture, but a little bit more of myself, you know, being a Latino student.

I really wanted a Spanish Immersion camp, so I started looking online and asked some local parents, which led me to ISLA Verano. I chose ISLA because my daughter is in a Spanish Immersion School doing a dual language program. She was having a three month break over the summer and I thought super important for her to maintain her Spanish speaking skills. So having a Spanish Immersion experience for camp was really important for us. After the camp, her confidence in speaking Spanish has grown.
