2019 Día de Profesiones y Oficios.

Adults love to ask children 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' The answers that follow can be so full of ambition and possibility, not to mention creativity: Doctor, Firefighter, Musician, Teacher, Pilot, Superhero!

Sometimes, however, the thought of one day having a job can seem so far off and the options, unknown.

For the past three years, ISLA has hosted Día de Profesiones y Oficios (Career Day) not only to help lay out some of the many professional paths a person can take, but also to recognize the benefits of speaking a second language.

Over 30 hispanic/latino professionals from around the community participated in the event, representing a range of careers from broadcasting to pediatrics. Students were engaged with information and activities to teach them that almost any passion can be translated into their professional development. Even more importantly, the students were able to witness how being bilingual helped so many professionals achieve success.
